Investigation of optical properties and radioactive attenuation parameters of doped tungsten oxide soda lime silica SLS waste glass

Thair Hussein Khazaalah et al.

Summary: The optical properties and radioactive attenuation parameters of doped tungsten oxide soda-lime-silica (SLS) waste glass were investigated. Lead-free transparent glass samples were manufactured for developing radiation-absorbing glass shielding materials. The results showed that the glass samples are harmless, transparent to visible light, and effective radiation shielding materials.

Radiation parameterizations and optical characterizations for glass shielding composed of SLS waste glass and lead-free materials

Thair Hussein Khazaalah et al.

Summary: The present study focuses on using Soda-Lime-Silica (SLS) glass waste to prepare lead-free glass shielding materials to reduce the accumulation of glass waste and conserve SiO2 resources. By adding BaO and Bi2O3 to the glass structure, the optical and attenuation properties of the glass are improved. The results show that increasing the BaO content in the glass structure enhances the linear attenuation coefficient and effective atomic number, while decreasing the half-value layer. The glass samples are proven to be non-toxic, transparent, and efficient radiation shielding materials.

Development of Novel Transparent Radiation Shielding Glasses by BaO Doping in Waste Soda Lime Silica (SLS) Glass

Thair Hussein Khazaalah et al.

Summary: The study involved doping BaO in Bi2O3-ZnO-B2O3-SLS glass to develop lead-free radiation shielding glasses. Results showed that increasing BaO concentration led to decreased HVL and MFP while increased mu(m), suggesting BaO doped in Bi2O3-ZnO-B2O3-SLS glass is an effective and transparent shielding material against radiation.

Dosimetric properties of lithium borate glass doped with dysprosium

Nabil El-Faramawy et al.

Summary: The thermoluminescence properties of lithium borate glass samples doped with different concentrations of dysprosium were characterized. Glass samples doped with 0.1% Dy exhibited the best TL dosimetric properties. The deconvoluted analyses of the glow curves revealed five overlapping TL glow peaks, with a good linear dose-response for beta-particles in a specific dose range.

Influence of dysprosium doping on the structural, thermoluminescence and optical properties of lithium aluminium borate

P. O. Ike et al.

Summary: Different concentrations of dysprosium-doped lithium aluminum borate samples were studied for their structural, optical, and thermoluminescence properties using high temperature solid state sintering method. Results showed a decrease in transmittance and a decrease in band gap with increasing dysprosium concentration. Thermoluminescence glow curves exhibited an intense peak at 90 degrees C for the samples.

Zinc-lead-borate glasses doped with dysprosium oxide: Structure, optical, and radiation shielding features

Hanan Al-Ghamdi et al.

Summary: By doping with Dy2O3, both the direct and indirect band gaps of the glass samples decrease, while the Urbach energy increases. The linear attenuation coefficient increases and shielding factors like the half-value layer, radiation protection efficiency, and transmission factor also increase as the ratio of Dy2O3 doping rises.
