Nonlinear conical diffraction in fractional dimensions with a PT-symmetric optical lattice

Zhenkun Wu et al.

Summary: This study assesses the dynamics of wave packets in a space-fractional parity-time symmetric lattice and reveals its peculiar properties during propagation, such as splitting or diffraction-free propagation, preferential propagation, and phase dislocations. Additionally, conical diffraction and non-diffracting propagation phenomena were observed in the two-dimensional fractional case.

Zhenkun Wu et al.

Summary: This study analyzes conical diffraction in space-fractional parity-time (PT) symmetry and examines the peculiar characteristics of the corresponding Floquet Bloch modes. The study finds that the band structure in this model is different from regular PT symmetry, and the linear band structure during propagation has unique properties.

Propagation dynamics of abruptly autofocusing circular Airy Gaussian vortex beams in the fractional Schrodinger equation

Shangling He et al.

Summary: In this study, we introduced axisymmetric Airy-Gaussian vortex beams in an optical system based on the (2+1)-dimensional fractional Schrodinger equation with Levy index (LI) ranging from 1 to 2. By utilizing numerical methods, we investigated the propagation dynamics of these beams with vorticities ranging from 0 to 4, observing abrupt autofocusing followed by rebound from the center. The study demonstrated that properties of autofocusing dynamics, such as focusing distance, spot radius, and peak intensity, are determined by LI, relative width of Airy and Gaussian factors, and vorticity, with peak intensity reaching maximum at intermediate values of LI near alpha = 1.4.

Dynamics of interacting Airy beams in the fractional Schrodinger equation with a linear potential

Weijun Chen et al.

Summary: The dynamics of interacting Airy beams in the fractional Schrodinger equation were studied analytically and numerically. The behavior of the beams varied depending on the Levy index, resulting in diffraction patterns and splitting of beams. Additionally, the inclusion of an external linear potential led to periodical modulated oscillations in the propagation of the Airy beams.

Controllable soliton propagation of Airy-Gaussian beams under the fractional effect

Yan Xiao et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the transmission of Airy-Gaussian beams in photorefractive medium, finding that solitons are influenced by the photorefractive effect during transmission. The characteristic parameters of solitons can be controlled and adjusted by the Levy index and photorefractive coefficient.

Interaction of Airy beams modeled by the fractional nonlinear cubic-quintic Schrodinger equation

Weijun Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interaction of Airy beams modeled by a fractional nonlinear cubic-quintic Schrodinger equation. It was found that when the interval between two Airy beams is large enough, they exhibit different interactions based on phase, either attracting or repelling each other. For smaller intervals, single breathing solitons and symmetric breathing soliton pairs are formed. Additionally, the quintic defocusing strength modulates the interaction of Airy beams, affecting factors such as width and repulsion between the beams.

Propagation of Gaussian beam based on two-dimensional fractional Schrodinger equation

Wang Xin et al.

Summary: This paper studies the dynamic evolution of a Gaussian beam governed by the two-dimensional fractional Schrodinger equation with variable coefficient, and discusses the influences of longitudinal modulation, Levy index, and chirp parameters. The results show that these factors can significantly affect the evolution of the Gaussian beam, leading to changes in symmetry, size, and diffraction properties during propagation.

Propagation dynamics of radially polarized symmetric Airy beams in the fractional Schrodinger equation

Shangling He et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the propagation dynamics of radially polarized symmetric Airy beams in a (2+1)-dimensional optical system with fractional diffraction, analyzing the autofocusing effect and the influence of Levy index on focal length. It also explores the ability of R-SABs to capture nano-particles via radiation forces and the impact of off-axis shift on the power-density distribution pattern during propagation.

Optical Solitons and Vortices in Fractional Media: A Mini-Review of Recent Results

Boris A. Malomed

Summary: The article reviews recent results on stable propagation of solitons and solitary vortices in models based on the NLSE, including fractional diffraction and nonlinear terms. The results are mainly numerical, with some analytical findings included for fast moving solitons. The article also briefly considers dissipative solitons governed by the fractional complex Ginzburg-Landau equation.
