Non-linear response under terahertz radiation of an asymmetric Ga1-xAlxAs/GaAs/Ga1-yAlyAs V-groove nanowire confining a singly-ionized double donor

Eugenio Giraldo-Tobon et al.

Summary: This study theoretically calculates the generation of second and third harmonic in a asymmetric Ga1-xAlxAs/GaAs/Ga1-yAlyAs V-groove nanowire with a singly ionized double donor (SIDD). The calculated results show that the optical coefficients can be tuned within the THz band by carefully selecting morphological parameters values of the V-groove. NOR, SHG, and THG exhibit strong dependence on the donor-donor distance.

Self-Polarization of Hydrogenic Impurity in Quantum Wells Made of Different Materials

Baris Ozkapi et al.

Summary: The effect of an external electric field on the ground state binding energy and self-polarization of a hydrogenic donor impurity in quantum wells made of different materials has been investigated using the effective mass approximation and variational scheme. The variations of binding energy and self-polarization with well width, electric field, and impurity position have been extensively studied. It has been observed that the binding energy decreases while self-polarization increases with increasing electric field in each quantum well made of different materials. Additionally, InP/In1-x Ga x P structures exhibit higher binding energy values among the discussed structures. Material selection has a significant impact on self-polarization and binding energy in QW-based structures.

Electronic and optical properties of a D2+ complex in two-dimensional quantum dots with Gaussian confinement potential

H. Sari et al.

Summary: By using the two-dimensional diagonalization method and the effective mass approximation, this study investigates the electronic structure and intersubband optical absorption of a singly ionized double donor complex confined in a Gaussian quantum dot. The results show that the binding energy, dissociation energy, equilibrium distance, and amplitude of the optical absorption are significantly affected by the quantum dot size and internuclear distance. Furthermore, it is observed that an increase in the amplitude of the dipole-related matrix element and energy difference between the two lowest-lying energy states occurs when the distance between the donor atoms is in the order of the quantum dot size. Thus, the electronic and optical properties can be precisely controlled by adjusting the system's size and internuclear distance.
