Characterization of Three Calcium-Dependent Protein Kinases of Cryptosporidium parvum

Summary: By expressing recombinant CpCDPK4, CpCDPK5, and CpCDPK6 in Escherichia coli, this study investigated the biological characteristics and functions of these proteins in Cryptosporidium spp. It was found that these CpCDPKs exhibited differences in gene expressions, protein localizations, and neutralizing capacities, suggesting potential varied roles during the lifecycle of Cryptosporidium spp., with CpCDPK4 and CpCDPK6 showing significant inhibitory effects on host cell invasion.

Molecular Epidemiology of Human Cryptosporidiosis in Low-and Middle-Income Countries

Summary: Cryptosporidiosis is a significant cause of diarrhea and diarrhea-related mortality in children, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Studies have shown that there is high genetic diversity of Cryptosporidium spp. in humans in these countries, with anthroponotic transmission playing a major role. Implementing WASH interventions is recommended to prevent and control human cryptosporidiosis in low- and middle-income countries.
