Manganese-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation of Quinolines Enabled by π-π Interaction

Chenguang Liu et al.

Summary: The article reports on the non-noble metal-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of N-heteroaromatics, quinolines. A new chiral pincer manganese catalyst showed outstanding catalytic activity in the reaction, producing high yields and enantioselectivities. The precise regulation of enantioselectivity was ensured by a pi-pi interaction, achieving competitive turnover numbers with noble metal catalysts.

Enantioselective Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Sanglifehrin A and B and Analogs

Chia-Fu Chang et al.

Summary: This study presents the enantio-selective total synthesis and biological evaluation of sanglifehrin A and B and analogs. The 2-CF3 analog of sanglifehrin B exhibited higher anti-proliferative activity in Jurkat cells, while sanglifehrin A promoted CypA complexation with IMPDH2. The synthetic approach reported here will enable further investigation of the contribution of the spirolactam to sanglifehrin-dependent immunosuppressive activity.

Nickel-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation of Hydrazones

Bowen Li et al.

Summary: An efficient nickel-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of hydrazones to chiral hydrazines has been achieved with high yields and enantiomeric excess. Deuterium labelling experiments showed tautomerization of hydrazone substrates in mixed solvents, while the presence of acids promoted the dissociation of the active nickel catalyst in the catalytic cycle.

Nickel-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation for Kinetic Resolution of [2.2]Paracyclophane-Derived Cyclic N-Sulfonylimines

Yang Zhao et al.

Summary: Nickel-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation was successfully utilized for the kinetic resolution of cyclic N-sulfonylimines derived from [2.2]paracyclophane. High selectivity factors were observed, leading to good yields and high levels of enantiopurity in the recovered materials and hydrogenation products, which are valuable synthetic intermediates for planar chiral [2.2]paracyclophane-based compounds.
