Stimuli-responsive cyclometalated platinum complex bearing bent molecular geometry for highly efficient solution-processable OLEDs

Zhenhua Wei et al.

Summary: This research focuses on platinum complexes with stimuli-responsive luminescence and demonstrated their bright emission under external stimuli, as well as their application in OLEDs with a maximum external quantum efficiency of around 18%, the highest reported value in solution-processable OLEDs with stimuli-responsive luminescence. The study shows the potential of platinum complexes for promising stimuli responsive emission through clever molecular design, offering a new approach for developing smart materials in the semiconductor field.

Identification of the Key Parameters for Horizontal Transition Dipole Orientation in Fluorescent and TADF Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Francisco Tenopala-Carmona et al.

Summary: Horizontal orientation of the emissive transition dipole moment (TDM) in OLEDs can significantly improve light outcoupling efficiency. Determining the drivers of horizontal orientation, such as emitter molecule aspect ratio and glass-transition temperature (T-g), is crucial. While molecular weight and linearity are key parameters for neat systems, host T-g and emitter length and MW become more relevant in host-guest systems with low and high molecular weight emitters, respectively. Future research should aim to establish a comprehensive model of molecular orientation in OLEDs.
