Pyrite trace element and S-Pb isotopic evidence for contrasting sources of metals and ligands during superimposed hydrothermal events in the Dongping gold deposit, North China

Huan Li et al.

Summary: By studying the chemistry and isotopes of pyrite, we have revealed that the two stages of pyrite in the Dongping gold deposit have different metal sources, with the later stage being more influenced by metasedimentary rocks and the earlier stage being more influenced by the syenite.

Geology, U-Pb geochronology and stable isotope geochemistry of the Heihaibei gold deposit in the southern part of the Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt, China: A granitic intrusion-related gold deposit?

Lu Yu et al.

Summary: The Heihaibei gold deposit, located in the southern part of the Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt, is a newly discovered gold deposit. It is characterized by its association with monzogranite and the presence of pre-ore and post-ore gabbro. The age of the gold mineralization is determined to be 439 +/- 3 Ma, and it is suggested to have formed during the subduction stage of the Early Paleozoic Proto-Tethys ocean. The gold mineralization is dominated by pyrite, arsenopyrite, and native gold and is associated with three stages of mineralization. The fluid inclusion and isotope compositions suggest a genetic association between the gold mineralization and granitic magmatism.

Metallogenesis of the Bakoshi-Kundila gold deposit in northern West Nigerian Subshield: Insights from pyrite chemical and sulfur isotopic compositions and zircon U-Pb geochronology

Safiyanu Muhammad Elatikpo et al.

Summary: In this study, the mechanisms and formation ages of gold mineralization at the Bakoshi-Kundila gold deposit in Nigeria were investigated. The results revealed two stages of mineralization with different ore types and formation mechanisms. Zircon dating suggested that the gold mineralization was related to granite emplacement and late tectonic events in the area.

Summary: This study investigates the Heihaibei granite in the East Kunlun Orogen (EKO) using geochronology, geochemistry, and Hf isotope analysis. The results suggest that the Heihaibei granite formed in a post-collisional extension environment following the closure of the Proto-Tethys Ocean.

Two Epochs of Mineralization of Orogenic Gold Deposit in the East Kunlun Orogenic Belt: Constraints from Monazite U-Pb Age, In Situ Sulfide Trace Elements and Sulfur Isotopes in Wulonggou Gold Field

Zheming Zhang et al.

Summary: The Wulonggou Gold Field in northwestern China is a giant gold field, and this study reports on the precise age, specific ore-forming process, and composition of ore-forming fluids in the field. The research demonstrates a link between tectonic-magmatic events and gold metallogeny in the area, with the gold deposits interpreted as an orogenic gold system related to two-epoch events.

A general ore formation model for metasediment-hosted Sb-(Au-W) mineralization of the Woxi and Banxi deposits in South China

Huan Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the metasediment-hosted Sb-(Au-W) deposits in the Jiangnan Orogen and establishes a general ore formation model for this type of deposit. The results suggest that early-stage gold mineralization may be related to orogeny, while late-stage antimony mineralization may be influenced by deep granitic magmatism. Local metasedimentary rocks and granite magmatism provide metals and ligands for mineralization, with magmatic fluids playing an essential role in late-stage ore formation.

Da-Peng Zhu et al.

Summary: This study reveals the magmatic activity and mineralization process of the Baoshan Cu-Pb-Zn deposit through in situ U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotope studies of zircons and trace element compositions of two generations of pyrite. The results provide insights into the geochronology, magma source, fluid composition, and origin of the ore-forming materials. Furthermore, the study highlights the multi-stage magmatic and mineralization processes in the Early to Late Jurassic in South China.

Multistage ore-forming processes and metal source recorded in texture and composition of pyrite from the Late Triassic Asiha gold deposit, Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt, western China

Gai-Zhong Liang et al.

Summary: The Asiha vein-type gold deposit in the Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt provides a great opportunity for studying the sources of metals and origins of orogenic intrusion-related gold systems. Different types of pyrite in the deposit indicate three stages of hydrothermal mineralization, and the variation in metal content suggests the ore-forming materials were primarily derived from felsic magma mixed with different proportions of mafic-volcanic host rocks.

Genesis of visible gold in pyrite in the Zhaoxian gold deposit, Jiaodong gold province, China: Constraints from EBSD micro-structural and LA-ICP-MS elemental analyses

Qi Li et al.

Summary: Pyrite is a common host for gold in different types of gold deposits, and visible gold in pyrite is likely introduced by externally derived fluid rich in gold, rather than remobilization of invisible gold. The majority of gold in pyrite, especially in Py-2, is relatively low, and visible gold is found in micro-fractures, cavities, and grain boundaries.

LA-ICP-MS trace element analysis of pyrite from the Dafang gold deposit, South China: Implications for ore genesis

Kexin Wang et al.

Summary: The Dafang gold deposit in the Nanling Range of China is a hydrothermal gold deposit with three mineralization stages dominated by pyrite as the main gold-bearing mineral. Research results show that the gold in pyrite exists as Au1+, and the coincidence of gold-rich zones with arsenic-rich zones indicates that arsenic promotes the enrichment of lattice gold.

Texture, trace elements, sulfur and He-Ar isotopes in pyrite: Implication for ore-forming processes and fluid source of the Guoluolongwa gold deposit, East Kunlun metallogenic belt

Xing-Hui Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the ore-forming fluids and processes in the Gouli goldfield through a comprehensive analysis of the texture, geochemistry, and isotopes of pyrite. Four distinct types of pyrite were identified, indicating evidence for a multi-stage hydrothermal fluid evolution. The findings suggest that multiple pulses of ore-forming fluids were exsolved during sequential episodes of primarily crustal-derived felsic magmatism with lesser mantle influences.
