Genesis and geological significance of sulfide bearing mafic enclaves and host syenite in Heishishan, East Kunlun: Evidence from geochronology, mineralogy, geochemistry and Sr-Nd-Hf isotopes

Li ZhiHua et al.

Summary: The Heishishan copper polymetallic deposit in Wulonggou area of the Eastern Kunlun Orogen Belt contains mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) with sulfide in quartz monzonite-syenite. Zircon U-Pb dating shows that the syenite crystallized at approximately 239.4 +/- 1.0Ma. The MMEs and syenite are believed to originate from the same magma chamber, with the MMEs being an early separated crystallization phase. The syenite is formed by partial melting of water-bearing mafic rocks in the lower crust under low pressure, and the MMEs carry a higher sulfur content compared to the syenite magma.
