Neutron and gamma radiation shielding Ni based new type super alloys development and production by Monte Carlo Simulation technique

Bunyamin Aygun

Summary: In this study, five new super alloys with high temperature resistance were developed and produced for gamma and fast neutron radiation shielding. Theoretical calculations and experimental measurements showed that these new super alloys have better radiation absorption ability compared to the commonly used 316LN nuclear stainless steel, making them suitable for nuclear applications.

The concentration impact of Yb3+ on the bismuth boro-phosphate glasses: Physical, structural, optical, elastic, and radiation-shielding properties

K. A. Naseer et al.

Summary: This study investigates the concentration impacts of Yb3+ on a series of bismuth boro-phosphate glasses. The results show that EBiBP2Y glass is suitable for sound-resistant purposes and has the best shielding performance against gamma radiation within the studied energy ranges. The R-squared values obtained from two techniques indicate high consistency in the results.

Study of physical, optical properties and gamma radiation shielding efficiency of 0.5Bi2O3-(0.5-x)WO3-xPbO glasses

A. Kozlovskiy et al.

Summary: This study investigated the properties of Bi2O3 glasses containing tungsten and lead obtained by sintering, finding that an increase in PbO concentration leads to higher density, lower metallization, a smaller band gap, and higher refractive index. Experimental results showed that glasses with 0.125WO3-0.375PbO have the best shielding efficiency for gamma rays.

Synthesis, physical, optical properties and gamma-ray shielding parameters of some tellurite glasses

R. El-Mallawany et al.

Summary: In this study, tellurite glasses with varying Bi2O3 concentrations were synthesized and their optical properties and gamma-ray shielding capabilities were investigated. The glass sample containing 20 mol% Bi showed the highest absorption for gamma radiation at 15 keV, attributed to the high atomic number of Bi. The results indicated that Bi-doped glasses are effective for shielding against gamma radiation.

Experimental Investigation of Radiation Shielding Competence of Bi2O3-CaO-K2O-Na2O-P2O5 Glass Systems

Dalal Abdullah Aloraini et al.

Summary: The experimental study on Bi2O3-CaO-K2O-Na2O-P2O5 glass systems showed that the addition of Bi2O3 increases the mass and linear attenuation coefficients, leading to better shielding capabilities. Furthermore, glass with 10 mol% of Bi2O3 requires a smaller thickness to shield radiation effectively, as indicated by the results of half value layer measurements.

Mechanical and Gamma Ray Absorption Behavior of PbO-WO3-Na2O-MgO-B2O3 Glasses in the Low Energy Range

Aljawhara H. Almuqrin et al.

Summary: The mechanical properties of the PbO-WO3-Na2O-MgO-B2O3 glass system were investigated using the Makishima and Mackenzie model, revealing an increase in number of bonds and improvements in photon and electron attenuation abilities with higher PbO content. The study also showed variations in Poisson's ratio and fast neutron removal cross section with changing PbO content, highlighting the potential of the glass system for radiation protection applications.
