Ternary Transition Metal Dichalcogenides for High Power Vector Dissipative Soliton Ultrafast Fiber Laser

Lu Li et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the application of NbxRe(1-x)S2 nanosheets in ultrafast photonics. By incorporating the NbxRe(1-x)S2-microfiber saturable absorber into a net positive dispersion Er-doped fiber laser cavity, stable dissipative soliton pulses were generated. The NbxRe(1-x)S2-based mode-locked fiber laser demonstrated superior comprehensive performance compared to previous works based on 2D materials-based saturable absorbers.

Co3O4 film saturable absorber for generating soliton mode-locked pulses in erbium-doped fiber laser

Yu Yang et al.

Summary: In this research, a soliton mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser using Co3O4 as a saturable absorber (SA) in the 1.5-mu m region is proposed. Spherical Co3O4 nanoparticles embedded in polyvinyl alcohol were used to form a Co3O4-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film. Highly stable soliton mode-locked pulses were observed at 1558.86 nm with a 3 dB bandwidth, fundamental frequency, pulse width, and signal-to-noise ratio of 2.25 nm, 5.68 MHz, 1.24 ps, and 72.37 dB, respectively. The experimental results demonstrate that spherical Co3O4 nanoparticles exhibit good performance as a promising SA for creating soliton mode-locked fiber lasers.

Harmonic and fundamental-frequency mode-locked operations in an Er-doped fiber laser using a Cr2Si2Te6-based saturable absorber

Nannan Xu et al.

Summary: The article discusses the use of Cr2Si2Te6 as a saturable absorber to demonstrate a pulsed Er-doped fiber laser based on its nonlinear saturable absorption properties. The experimental results show that Cr2Si2Te6 SA has enormous potential in demonstrating ultrafast fiber lasers and provides references for future research based on Cr2Si2Te6 as ultrafast optical modulators.

Nonlinear photoresponse of high damage threshold titanium disulfide nanocrystals for Q-switched pulse generation

Xinxin Shang et al.

Summary: A passively Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser with two wavelengths was designed using a titanium disulfide saturable absorber. The ultra-fast modulator was fabricated using TiS2 and transferred onto a fiber ferrule. The experimental results showed that the laser had a long pulse duration, high output power, and adjustable repetition rate. The study suggested that TiS2 nanocrystals with high damage threshold had great potential for application in pulse fiber lasers.

Raman-enhanced multicolor pulses in dissipative soliton mode-locked ring-cavity fiber laser based on GIMF-SA

Haoxue Qiu et al.

Summary: The stable multicolor complex with dissipative solitons (DS) and Raman pulses (RP) is experimentally demonstrated. The results show that the intensity of DS pulses is larger than that of RP, and the single-to-noise ratio (SNR) of DS is higher than that of the complex pulse.

WxNb(1-x)Se2 nanosheets for ultrafast photonics

Lu Li et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of WxNb(1-x)Se2 nanosheets as ultrafast photonic devices to generate high power mode-locked and Q-switched pulses in a fiber laser. The results show improvements compared to recent studies, suggesting that 2D TTMDC-based devices could be efficient candidates for ultrafast photonics and nonlinear optical applications.
