Angular Superoscillatory Metalens Empowers Single-Shot Measurement of OAM Modes with Finer Intervals

Runzhe Zhang et al.

Summary: Distinct from conventional optical lenses, the superoscillatory lens offers an alternative approach for sub-diffraction focusing in microscopy and telescopy. In this study, an angular superoscillatory metalens (ASOM) is demonstrated by combining superoscillatory and angular metalens phases. The ASOM can map orbital angular modes into focusing patterns at the focal plane with different azimuth angles, allowing for the determination of the OAM spectrum with a single-shot measurement. This study shows an improved OAM resolution compared to normal angular metalenses, potentially advancing the development of integrated and high-dimensional optical and quantum systems.

Thickness bound for nonlocal wide-field-of-view metalenses

Shiyu Li et al.

Summary: This study explores the design of metalenses, revealing an inherent trade-off between achieving a broad-angle response and reducing device thickness, and proposes a universal method to determine the minimum device thickness. It offers guidance for the design of nonlocal metasurfaces and reveals the relationship between angular diversity and spatial footprint.

Spin-decoupled metasurface for simultaneous detection of spin and orbital angular momenta via momentum transformation

Yinghui Guo et al.

Summary: This research utilized the inherent orthogonality of spin angular momentum and orbital angular momentum of photons to expand the dimensions of quantum information. A method for vortex recognition through a single-shot measurement was proposed, along with spin-controlled dual-functional photonic momentum transformations for sorting SAM and OAM simultaneously. The experimental results demonstrated good agreement with numerical modeling and showed potential for developing integrated and high-dimensional optical and quantum systems.

Generation of super-resolved optical needle and multifocal array using graphene oxide metalenses

Hongtao Wang et al.

Summary: Graphene-based metalenses offer new opportunities for precisely controlling phase and amplitude modulations, leading to unprecedented possibilities in lens design and applications. The conversion of graphene oxide into graphene materials allows for simultaneous modulation at a single position, enabling the demonstration of ultra-long optical needles and axial multifocal spots in graphene oxide metalenses.
