Dynamic imaging through random perturbed fibers via physics-informed learning

Enlai Guo et al.

Summary: In this paper, a physics-informed deep learning (DL) method for imaging through perturbed fibers is demonstrated by effectively combining speckle-correlation theory and DL method. With speckle redundancy, the object imaging through perturbed fibers can be completely and accurately reconstructed by training with only one configuration, and objects of different complexity can be effectively reconstructed. Furthermore, this approach is also effective for imaging through dynamic fibers and random length fibers. This method provides impetus to the development of lensless fiber endoscope in practical scenes and offers an enlightening reference for using DL methods to solve fiber imaging problems.

Self-attention module in a multi-scale improved U-net (SAM-MIU-net) motivating high-performance polarization scattering imaging

Bing Lin et al.

Summary: In this paper, a self-attention module (SAM) in multi-scale improved U-net (SAM-MIU-net) is proposed for polarization scattering imaging. This module can effectively extract a new combination of multidimensional information from targets, focusing on the stable feature carried by polarization characteristics. It enhances the expression of available features and makes it easier to extract polarization features for recovering the detail of targets in polarization scattering imaging.

Adaptive inverse mapping: a model-free semi-supervised learning approach towards robust imaging through dynamic scattering media

Xiaowen Hu et al.

Summary: In this paper, an adaptive inverse mapping (AIP) method is proposed to achieve high-quality imaging through dynamic scattering media. The method does not require prior knowledge and only needs output speckle images after initialization. The inverse mapping can be corrected through unsupervised learning. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated through numerical simulations and experiments, showing increased robustness in imaging. The high imaging performance of the AIP method demonstrates great potential in imaging through dynamic scattering media.

Far-field super-resolution ghost imaging with a deep neural network constraint

Fei Wang et al.

Summary: Ghost imaging (GI) is a technique that facilitates image acquisition under low-light conditions by single-pixel measurements, and has great potential in various applications. However, the current GI techniques require a large number of samples to reconstruct high-resolution images, which limits their practical applications. In this study, a far-field super-resolution GI technique is proposed that incorporates the physical model for GI image formation into a deep neural network. The proposed technique outperforms other widespread GI techniques in terms of spatial resolution and sampling ratio, and provides a new framework for GI with practical applications.

High-resolution non-line-of-sight imaging employing active focusing

Ruizhi Cao et al.

Summary: Non-line-of-sight (NLOS) imaging is a rapidly developing research direction with significant applications in autonomous vehicles, remote sensing, and other areas. This study introduces a method called UNCOVER focusing, which manipulates light to counter scattering and achieves NLOS imaging with unprecedented resolution. By actively focusing light onto hidden targets using wavefront shaping, the method forms a near diffraction-limited focus smaller than the object itself, enabling high-resolution imaging.

Large field-of-view non-invasive imaging through scattering layers using fluctuating random illumination

Lei Zhu et al.

Summary: The authors demonstrate a method for non-invasive fluorescence imaging behind scattering layers that extends beyond the optical memory effect. By demixing speckle patterns emitted by a fluorescent object using matrix factorization and fingerprint-based reconstruction, they achieve imaging with a larger field of view. Experimental validation confirms the efficiency and robustness of the method across various fluorescent samples.

Temporal light control in complex media through the singular-value decomposition of the time-gated transmission matrix

Louisiane Devaud et al.

Summary: The complex temporal behavior of an ultrashort pulse of light propagating through a multiple scattering medium can be experimentally characterized using a time-gated transmission matrix. We demonstrate that injecting singular vectors of this matrix allows optimal control of energy deposition at any controllable delay time. Our approach provides insights into fundamental aspects of multispectral light scattering and could be applied to imaging or coherent control.
