Realization of broadband truly rainbow trapping in gradient-index metamaterials

Jie Xu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the characteristics of unidirectionally propagating wave (UPW) and constructs ultra-broadband one-way waveguides using metamaterials and perfect magnetic conductor boundaries. A gradient-index metamaterial is proposed for broadband truly rainbow trapping. The research findings are of great importance for broadband terahertz communication, energy harvesting, and strong-field devices.

Recent Advances in Opal/Inverted Opal Photonic Crystal Photocatalysts

Yiwen Chen et al.

Summary: Solar energy utilization technology is hindered by the limited light absorption range and low quantum efficiency of current semiconductors. Opal/inverted opal photonic crystals show great potential in enhancing light-matter interactions and extending light propagation paths for harvesting solar energy. The construction of opal/inverted opal photonic crystal photocatalysts, with attractive optical performance, is considered as an effective strategy to boost photocatalytic properties. Challenges and perspectives remain in the application of photonic crystal photocatalysts in areas such as hydrogen production and pollutant degradation.

Investigation of optical and physical property in opal films prepared by colloidal and freeze-dried microspheres

Farzaneh Fathi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of freeze-drying on polymer microspheres, finding that the process led to an increase in particle size and PDI, but did not significantly impact the morphology of the microspheres. Opal films prepared from colloidal microspheres showed more uniformity.
