Electrically reconfigurable waveguide Bragg grating filters

Mostafa Khalil et al.

Summary: We propose and demonstrate an electrically reconfigurable waveguide Bragg grating filters in silicon-on-insulator using a multiple-contact heater element. By controlling the heat distribution of the heated segments, different filter spectral responses can be achieved, which are applicable for both wavelength division multiplexing systems and optical signal processing applications.

Subwavelength grating waveguide filter based on cladding modulation with a phase-change material grating

S. Hadi Badri et al.

Summary: By utilizing phase-change materials with silicon subwavelength grating waveguides, a switchable and reconfigurable optical filter has been designed, enabling adjustment of the filter's central wavelength and bandwidth by controlling the geometry and distance of the phase-change material loading segments.

Reconfigurable bandpass optical filters based on subwavelength grating waveguides with a Ge2Sb2Te5 cavity

S. Hadi Badri et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a reconfigurable optical bandpass filter based on subwavelength grating waveguide and a cavity of phase-change material GST, allowing for tuning of resonance wavelength and transmission peak by modifying the partial crystallization of GST. Numerical simulations show that the structure can achieve an 8.8 nm wavelength redshift and modulation of transmission amplitude.

Complex spectral filters in silicon waveguides based on cladding-modulated Bragg gratings

Daniel Pereira-Martin et al.

Summary: The paper proposes a novel design approach for complex Bragg filters in silicon waveguides with laterally coupled Bragg loading segments, allowing for arbitrary spectral response. The design features a delocalized mode field to reduce sensitivity to fabrication errors and utilizes layer-peeling and layer-adding algorithms for efficient synthesis of target spectra. The concept and methodology are validated through the design and experimental demonstration of a complex spectral filter in an SOI platform.
