Influence of reverse saturable absorption effect on conventional and dissipative solitons fiber lasers

Gang Wang et al.

Summary: The study shows that the reverse saturable absorption effect has different impacts on the properties of conventional and dissipative solitons, affecting their loss, peak power, and pulse energy. It is found that the effect restricts the maximum pulse energy and facilitates the formation of multiple solitons in the conventional solitons state, while increasing the maximum pulse energy and playing a key role in transforming the pulse states in the dissipative solitons state. This highlights the importance of rational use of the reverse saturable absorption effect in different mode-locked regimes.
