Generation of Flat Optical Frequency Comb Using Cascaded PMs With Combined Harmonics

Summary: In this work, a scheme using cascaded phase modulators (PMs) with combined harmonics is proposed to generate flat optical frequency comb (OFC). The optimized phases and modulation indices for each harmonic are obtained to minimize the fluctuation of OFC. The feasibility of the proposed scheme is evaluated through simulation and experiment, and other feasible solutions for flat OFC with combined harmonics are also investigated.

Photonic approach for generating bandwidth-doubled and switchable multi-format chirp waveforms

Summary: A novel photonic approach for generating switchable multi-format chirp RF waveforms using a dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator (DPMZM) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The experiments show that different chirp RF waveforms with doubled bandwidths can be generated, suitable for multifunctional radars. The proposed scheme features compact structure, ease of switching control, and bandwidth doubling capabilities.
