Ultrasensitive Strain Sensor Based on Mach-Zehnder Interferometer With Bent Structures

Senyu Wang et al.

Summary: This paper presents an all-single-mode fiber strain sensor based on a bent structure Mach-Zehnder interferometer (BS-MZI), which is fabricated by releasing CO2 laser pulses along specific paths. The unique bent structures bring high strain sensitivity to the sensor, making it promising in strain measurement with high stability and repeatability. The sensor exhibits ultrahigh strain sensitivity and low temperature-strain cross-sensitivity, showing strong correlation with interference and modulated lengths.

Temperature and curvature insensitive all-fiber sensor used for human breath monitoring

Weihao Yuan et al.

Summary: An all-fiber sensor based on HCBF for human breath monitoring is proposed and successfully manufactured in this paper. The sensor has a rapid response time and recovery time, and is insensitive to temperature and curvature changes, enabling reliable sensing performance in dynamic environments.

Direct measurement of pulse wave propagation in capillaries of the human retina

Phillip Bedggood et al.

Summary: This study utilized high spatiotemporal resolution adaptive optics imaging to track the pulse wave velocity directly within individual retinal capillaries in three human subjects. Results showed significant variations in pulse wave velocity between vessels, with 44% of the vessels showing upstream transmission of the pulse wave, possibly due to wave reflection from downstream blood vessels.
