Design and implementation of finite time sliding mode controller for fuzzy overhead crane system

Van Trung Nguyen et al.

Summary: This paper addresses the problem of fuzzy overhead crane system modelling and finite-time stability/boundedness using sliding mode control method. The fuzzy technique is employed to linearize the system and a fuzzy model with appropriate membership functions is established. The sliding mode control method is utilized to stabilize the system and handle external disturbances. Finite-time stability/boundedness is introduced to achieve system stability within a specified finite time.

Robust Fixed-Time Stability: Application to Sliding-Mode Control

Emmanuel Moulay et al.

Summary: This article introduces a method for robust fixed-time stability and stabilization. New global robust fixed-time stability results are proposed for scalar systems using constant and variable exponent coefficients. These results are then applied to achieve global robust fixed-time stabilization of a class of uncertain nonlinear second-order systems using sliding-mode control. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Fixed-time ESO based fixed-time integral terminal sliding mode controller design for a missile

Lei Cui et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel fixed-time extended state observer based fixed-time integral terminal sliding mode controller for partial integrated guidance and control design. The paper proposes a class of arbitrary-order systems with fixed-time stability and designs an arbitrary-order fixed-time integral terminal sliding mode controller based on this system to avoid the singular problem. Additionally, a new fixed-time extended state observer is constructed to actively compensate for the disturbance caused by unknown target acceleration.

Trolley regulation and swing reduction of underactuated double-pendulum overhead cranes using fuzzy adaptive nonlinear control

Xiaodong Miao et al.

Summary: Traditional positioning and anti-sway of overhead cranes mainly rely on operator experience, leading to low efficiency and poor security. To address these issues, a fuzzy adaptive nonlinear controller has been designed, showing better performance and robustness in experimental comparisons.

Neural network-based boundary control of a gantry crane system subject to input deadzone and external disturbance

Ling Ma et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on designing a neural network-based boundary controller to stabilize the gantry crane system under input deadzone and external disturbance. It develops a boundary controller for the trolley and uses a neural network to compensate for the unknown nonlinearity of the input deadzone. By applying Lyapunov stability theory, the paper proves that the solution to the closed-loop system is uniformly bounded and ultimately bounded. Numerical simulations and physical experiment results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Optimal trajectory planning strategy for underactuated overhead crane with pendulum-sloshing dynamics and full-state constraints

Gang Li et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the difficulty of anti-swing control for overhead cranes induced by complex pendulum-sloshing dynamics with specific payloads. An optimal trajectory planning strategy is proposed, considering transportation time, energy consumption, and full-state constraints. The strategy uses quasi-convex optimization to suppress container swing and liquid sloshing simultaneously, ensuring actuated and unactuated state constraints. Numerical simulations and real experiments demonstrate that the proposed strategy outperforms existing methods.

Modeling and observer-based robust controllers for telescopic truck cranes

Le Van Duong et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the complex control problem of telescopic truck cranes. A dynamic model and controllers are developed, and their effectiveness is validated through simulation results on a Grove-TMS500 truck crane. The controllers effectively eliminate oscillations caused by elastic components and provide robustness against wind and parameter uncertainties.

Robust observer-based anti-swing control of 2D-crane systems with load hoisting-lowering

Roger Miranda-Colorado

Summary: A new model-free robust control scheme is proposed for reducing the payload swing angle of two-dimensional crane systems with varying rope length. The controller includes a coupling function and disturbance observer to attenuate swing angle magnitude and minimize the effects of disturbances, allowing the system to track desired motion and hoist/load with minimal oscillations. Comparative numerical simulations show that the new controller outperforms existing control techniques in the presence of internal and external disturbances.

An Adaptive Unscented Kalman Filter With Selective Scaling (AUKF-SS) for Overhead Cranes

Jaehoon Kim et al.

Summary: This article introduces an augmented adaptive unscented Kalman filter designed to estimate both the diagonal process noise covariance matrix and unknown inputs simultaneously. A selective scaling method is also introduced to improve the convergence property of the filter. The development of the novel KF is motivated by a specific estimation problem related to crane systems.

Hoang Manh Cuong et al.

Summary: This study presents an adaptive robust control system for rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes using fractional calculus combined with sliding mode control to deal with parametric variations and unknown wind disturbances.
