Cortical thickness across the lifespan: Data from 17,075 healthy individuals aged 3-90 years

Sophia Frangou et al.

Summary: The study used data from the ENIGMA Consortium to explore the relationship between age and cortical thickness, finding that most regions peak in cortical thickness during childhood, with a negative association between age and cortical thickness where the slope is steeper before the age of 30 and more gradual afterwards.

Summary: This study investigates the involvement of the frontoparietal network in different cognitive processes and reveals that rhythmic visual stimulation affects the connectivity of this network and modulates working memory performance.

SSVEP phase synchronies and propagation during repetitive visual stimulation at high frequencies

Tsvetomira Tsoneva et al.

Summary: Through studying the dynamic properties of EEG in 32 subjects, we found that SSVEPs in the gamma frequency band originate in the primary visual cortex, Brodmann areas 17, 18, and 19, with minor contributions from central and frontal sites. Additionally, our research showed a progressive phase shift of SSVEPs over the cortex, with higher input frequencies leading to faster propagation speeds.

Impact of HIV-infection on human somatosensory processing, spontaneous cortical activity, and cortical thickness: A multimodal neuroimaging approach

Chloe C. Casagrande et al.

Summary: The study found that both HIV-infected individuals and controls exhibit similar somatosensory gating, but there are differences in the strength of spontaneous cortical activity in the left postcentral gyrus. Interestingly, HIV-infected individuals also showed a significant reduction in cortical thickness within the same tissue. Further analysis indicated that this reduction was significantly correlated with CD4 nadir levels and mediated the relationship between HIV infection and spontaneous cortical activity in the left postcentral gyrus.
