Hierarchical Deep Click Feature Prediction for Fine-Grained Image Recognition

Jun Yu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method to predict the click feature of an image from visual features by integrating sparse constraints and an improved RELU operator. The method learns from an auxiliary image dataset containing click information to discover the hierarchy of word semantics. Experimental results show that the method achieves higher recognition accuracy, larger compression ratio, and good one-shot learning ability and scalability to unseen categories.

Possibilistic classification by support vector networks

Pei-Yi Hao et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel possibilistic classification algorithm using support vector machines (SVMs) to effectively handle uncertain information and improve classification performance. The algorithm aims at finding a maximal-margin fuzzy hyperplane based on possibility theory and solves a fuzzy mathematical optimization problem. The proposed algorithm retains the advantages of fuzzy set theory and SVM theory, and it is more robust for handling outliers. Experimental results demonstrate the satisfactory generalization accuracy and ability to describe inherent vagueness in the given dataset.

Least squares KNN-based weighted multiclass twin SVM

M. Tanveer et al.

Summary: The proposed LS-KWMTSVM is a novel least squares version of KNN-based weighted multi-class twin support vector machines, which is faster and yields better results compared to the conventional KWMTSVM. LS-KWMTSVM is more robust and efficient by solving linear equations instead of quadratic programming problems, achieving better classification accuracy with less computational time on imbalanced datasets.

Predicting stock price trends based on financial news articles and using a novel twin support vector machine with fuzzy hyperplane

Pei-Yi Hao et al.

Summary: This study introduces a method to extract hidden topic models and emotional information from news articles, as well as a novel fuzzy twin support vector machine for predicting stock price trends by merging large volumes of online news. Using fuzzy set theory, the decision function is generalized to handle outliers effectively, making the model more robust than other methods. The membership grade estimated by the fuzzy decision boundary provides better insight into the degree of confidence in predicted outputs, which is crucial for decision-making applications.
