Antisite defect qubits in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides

Jeng-Yuan Tsai et al.

Summary: The study identifies suitable defect centers in two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides and assesses their potential as solid-state spin qubits through high-throughput simulations. The authors show that these atomically thin materials offer a new platform for scalable qubit fabrication and operation at room temperature. The presence of neutral antisite defects in the transition metal dichalcogenides is found to enable controllable spin qubits with a paramagnetic triplet ground state.

Magnetically brightened dark electron-phonon bound states in a van der Waals antiferromagnet

Emre Ergecen et al.

Summary: This study reveals the bound states of d-orbitals and phonons in 2D vdW antiferromagnet NiPS3 through ultrafast spectroscopy. These states manifest as equally spaced phonon replicas in the frequency domain and become observable with magnetic order. The electronic origin of the bound states is established as localized d-d excitations through the emission and spectral tracking of phonons.

Zhiheng Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, three types of spatially indirect excitons and their quantum-confined Stark effects in bilayer WSe2 were discovered through electric field-tunable photoluminescence measurements. It was demonstrated, through first-principles calculations, that these excitons are momentum indirect and exhibit highly tunable circular polarization.

Efficient phonon cascades in WSe2 monolayers

Ioannis Paradisanos et al.

Summary: The study measured the first stages of carrier-phonon interaction in monolayer WSe2, revealing periodic maxima in hot photoluminescence intensity attributed to phonon cascades. The intermediate states in the conduction band at the Lambda-valley of the Brillouin zone are found to participate in the cascade process of tungsten diselenide monolayers.

Luca Sortino et al.

Summary: Deterministic positioning of single photon emitters in 2D semiconductors can be achieved through localized strain induced by underlying nanostructures, with coupling to dielectric nanoantennas leading to substantial improvements in quantum efficiency and photoluminescence brightness. This approach allows for low saturation pulse energies and significantly brighter photoluminescence, with a 5-fold increase in average quantum efficiency observed. Furthermore, dielectric nano-antennas are established as a platform for high-efficiency quantum light generation in monolayer semiconductors.
