NanoSafe III: A User Friendly Safety Management System for Nanomaterials in Laboratories and Small Facilities

Elina Buitrago et al.

Summary: Research in nanoscience is constantly introducing new nanomaterials and processes, but the current risk assessment of nanomaterial processes is slow and challenging due to lack of safety data sheets, exposure estimations, and difficulties in measurement. Using banding-based risk assessment tools in laboratory environments is an efficient way to evaluate occupational risks associated with nanomaterials. This three-step control banding approach provides a method for determining hazard bands, evaluating work exposure, and updating protective measures for working with nanomaterials in research environments.

Mechanical and durability properties of ultra-high performance concrete incorporated with various nano waste materials under different curing conditions

A. Serag Faried et al.

Summary: This research compared the performance of UHPC with different curing regimes and various nanomaterials. The results showed that SC and IC had similar effects on most nanomaterials, while PEG had a negative impact on NRHA. Compressive strength increased under IC for NWG, NRHA, NMK and NS, while sorptivity decreased for NS, NMK, NWG and NRHA.

Nanomaterials: Applications, waste-handling, environmental toxicities, and future challenges - A review

Shaukat Ali Mazari et al.

Summary: Nanotechnology is currently considered an attractive research sector in several countries due to its vast potential and commercial impact. However, the irregularities and uncertainties in dimensions and chemical compositions of nanomaterials raise questions about their viability. Concerns have been raised about the transport, destiny, and transformation of nanomaterials released into the environment.Current research focuses on exposure and effects of nanomaterials, various nanomaterials and their applications, as well as a critical analysis of the potential benefits and unknown dangers of nanomaterials.
