Potential functions and applications of diverse microbial exopolysaccharides in marine environments

Hassan A. H. Ibrahim et al.

Summary: Exopolysaccharides (EPSs) from microorganisms are essential biopolymers with various applications. These EPSs can be synthesized and secreted by microbes into the extracellular environment. They are found in diverse environments and have attracted interest for their degradability and non-toxicity. However, further efforts are needed for cost-effective and industrial-scale production.
