Fabrication of tight GO/PVDF hollow fiber membranes with improved permeability for efficient fractionation of dyes and salts in textile wastewater

Chuanfeng Wang et al.

Summary: A GO/PVDF tight hollow fiber membrane (HFM) was developed via one-step direct spinning process for fractionation of dyes and salts in textile wastewater. The optimized HFM showed small pore radius, high pure water flux, strong negative charge, excellent rejection for dyes, and low salts rejection. Additionally, the membrane exhibited good hydrophilicity, antifouling property, and stability, making it significant for effective treatment of textile wastewater.

Graphene oxide membranes with stable porous structure for ultrafast water transport

Wen-Hai Zhang et al.

Summary: The study presents a highly stable and ultrapermeable zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8)-nanocrystal-hybridized graphene oxide membrane prepared using ice templating and in situ crystallization of ZIF-8. The selective growth of ZIF-8 in microporous defects enhances water permeability and mechanical integrity, leading to a 30-fold increase in permeability compared to graphene oxide membranes (GOms). The technique also improves permselectivity and offers potential for developing next-generation nanofiltration membranes.

Summary: The development of functionalized graphene oxide membranes through plasma processing offers enhanced metal ion sieving and improved efficiency in seawater desalination. The nitrogen functionalities in the membranes interact strongly with metal ions, leading to increased mono/divalent cation selectivity. Additionally, the ultrathin FGOMs exhibit high water flux and water/salt selectivity, showing great potential for various applications.
