Modulating Tumor Extracellular Matrix by Simultaneous Inhibition of Two Cancer Cell Receptors

Weizhi Chen et al.

Summary: This study reveals that blocking cancer cell signaling can disrupt tumor extracellular matrix, and it is demonstrated that multireceptor-mediated modulation of tumor ECM can reverse tumor microenvironment remodeling. These findings are not only important for understanding the regulatory role of cancer cells in tumor microenvironment development, but also introduce a new therapeutic platform or strategy for cancer treatment.

Tumor microenvironment promotes breast cancer chemoresistance

Umar Mehraj et al.

Summary: Breast cancer is the most common tumor type in women, and chemoresistance remains a significant challenge despite advancements in diagnosis and treatment. The tumor microenvironment plays a central role in opposing chemotherapy agents, with various stromal and immune cells contributing to the acquisition of resistant phenotypes. Understanding the role of TME components and cells in breast cancer chemoresistance is crucial for improving treatment outcomes.

Inhibition of RAC1 activity in cancer associated fibroblasts favours breast tumour development through IL-1β upregulation

Summary: Research shows that targeting RAC1 activity increases the pro-tumorigenic activity of CAFs, while inhibiting RAC1 activity shifts CAFs to a more aggressive phenotype. Therefore, combining the reduction of RAC1 activity and inhibition of cytokine secretion may be a novel approach for the treatment of breast cancer.
