Greatly Enhanced Emission from Spin Defects in Hexagonal Boron Nitride Enabled by a Low-Loss Plasmonic Nanocavity

Xiaohui Xu et al.

Summary: The negatively charged boron vacancy defect in boron nitride has potential in quantum sensing, but its low quantum efficiency hampers its practical applications. This study demonstrates significantly higher emission enhancements of the defect using low-loss nanopatch antennas, making it a promising high-resolution magnetic field sensor.

Insight into the Heterogeneity of Longitudinal Plasmonic Field in a Nanocavity Usingan Intercalated Two-Dimensional Atomic Crystal Probe with a ∼7 Å Resolution

Siyu Chen et al.

Summary: Quantitative measurement of the plasmonic field distribution is challenging. This study presents a nanoruler design based on a two-dimensional atomic crystal to quantitatively and directionally probe the longitudinal plasmonic field distribution. The research reveals the heterogeneous distribution and large intensity gradient of the field in individual nanocavities, and also provides insight into the slower decay of the field in high dielectric constant materials.

Locating Single-Atom Optical Picocavities Using Wavelength-Multiplexed Raman Scattering

Jack Griffiths et al.

Summary: The study reveals that light suppresses the local effective barrier height for adatom formation, and that the initial barrier height is decreased by reduced atomic coordination numbers near facet edges. Modeling the system also resolves the frequency-dependent picocavity field enhancements supported by these atomic scale features.
