Mechanism of paramagnetic spin Seebeck effect

Koichi Oyanagi et al.

Summary: We have theoretically studied the spin Seebeck effect (SSE) in a bilayer system of normal metal (NM) and paramagnetic insulator (PI). By considering the spin-flip scattering through interfacial exchange coupling, we calculated the thermal spin pumping from PI to NM and backflow spin current from NM to PI using a linear response approach. Our results show the appearance of a finite spin current at the interface under a temperature difference between spins in NM and PI, which increases with the density of localized spin S. Additionally, our model successfully explains the experimentally observed reduction of paramagnetic SSE in Pt/Gd3Ga5O12 when the Zeeman energy is comparable to the thermal energy.

Thermoelectric Enhancement in Single Organic Radical Molecules

Juan Hurtado-Gallego et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that single organic radical molecules can achieve simultaneous enhancement of the Seebeck coefficient and conductivity, thanks to their intrinsic spin state. The researchers also observe a counterintuitive quantum interference effect in stable Blatter radical molecules, further enhancing their thermoelectric properties.

High-Spin (S=1) Blatter-Based Diradical with Robust Stability andElectrical Conductivity

Shuyang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports an organic diradical composed of two Blatter radicals that has a triplet ground state and a small singlet-triplet energy gap. The diradical exhibits robust thermal stability and shows conformational equilibrium in different environments. In crystals and a polystyrene matrix, the diradical demonstrates good electrical conductivity. Additionally, the diradical can form stable thin films that remain stable in air for a significant period of time.

Hopping-Dominated Spin Transport in Unintentionally Doped Organic Semiconductors

Qiuxia Lu et al.

Summary: The study introduces a spin diffusion theory to predict unusual pure spin current transport in unintentionally doped organic semiconductors. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of pure spin current transport via polaron hopping at low carrier density. Interestingly, the spin diffusion length (SDL) can be prolonged by controlling molecular geometry structural disorder and reducing reorganization energy, opening up new possibilities for designing organic spintronics devices with long SDL and low carrier density.
