Estimation of the burden of tinea capitis among children in Africa

Felix Bongomin et al.

Summary: Tinea capitis is a common skin fungal infection among school-age children in Africa, with an estimated total of 138.1 million cases across the continent. Nigeria and Ethiopia have the highest number of cases, contributing significantly to the burden of the disease. Clinical diagnosis is more prevalent than mycological diagnosis in this region, highlighting the need for improved diagnostic methods and public health interventions.
