Heterogenous Networks: From Small Cells to 5G NR-U

Summary: With the exponential increase in mobile users, the demand for mobile data has grown tremendously. To meet these demands, cellular operators have been innovating to enhance the capacity of cellular systems. However, existing small cells are unable to meet the rising data traffic due to data-intensive applications. To provide quality of service guarantees, cellular operators have started leveraging the unlicensed spectrum and coexisting with Wi-Fi. This paper presents an overview of past, present, and future research in small cell and unlicensed coexistence communication technologies, and discusses future research work in the newly allocated unlicensed spectrum.

DRAM: A DRL-based resource allocation scheme for MAR in MEC

Distributed Edge System Orchestration for Web-Based Mobile Augmented Reality Services

Cloud computing-enabled IIOT system for neurosurgical simulation using augmented reality data access

Traditional surgical training using autopsy and prosthesis models has encountered problems such as insufficient resources, low efficiency, and high cost. This paper introduces a highly immersive AR-based brain tumor neurosurgery remote collaborative virtual surgery training system, combining VR technology and cloud computing, to address the challenges in neurosurgery training. The system was evaluated using experts and novices, and the results showed that the AR simulator was superior to the VR simulator in terms of vision and scene authenticity, and had a better effect on improving surgical skills.

NeuSaver: Neural Adaptive Power Consumption Optimization for Mobile Video Streaming

Digital-Twin-Enabled IoMT System for Surgical Simulation Using rAC-GAN

Real-time operating room perspective is projected to the surgeon's helmet using DT-based MR and 5G for improved accuracy and immersion. The proposed intelligent IoMT system demonstrates significant performance improvement in processing clinical data and remote medical data transfer.
