Live to Die Another Day: The Rebrightening of AT 2018fyk as a Repeating Partial Tidal Disruption Event

Summary: Stars that interact with supermassive black holes can be destroyed partially by tides, resulting in a luminous accretion episode. The TDE AT 2018fyk experienced a dimming event at X-ray and UV wavelengths 500-600 days after discovery, and now these emission components have reemerged roughly 1200 days after discovery. The source properties suggest a repeated partial tidal disruption event and provide evidence of partial disruption of a star by an SMBH.

Discovery and follow-up of ASASSN-19dj: an X-ray and UV luminous TDE in an extreme post-starburst galaxy

Seventeen Tidal Disruption Events from the First Half of ZTF Survey Observations: Entering a New Era of Population Studies

Summary: Tidal disruption events (TDEs) have been studied as laboratories for quiescent black holes, but the small number of known TDEs and uncertainties in their emission mechanism have hindered progress. Analysis of optical/UV light curves of 17 new TDEs reveals distinct properties based on spectroscopic class. TDEs with Bowen fluorescence features have smaller blackbody radii and lower optical luminosities, while those with only helium emission lines have the longest rise times and highest luminosities.
