Lenses In VoicE (LIVE): searching for strong gravitational lenses in the VOICE@VST survey using convolutional neural networks

Fabrizio Gentile et al.

Summary: The authors identified 16 likely strong gravitational lenses using CNNs on data from the VOICE survey, with two different CNNs trained on composite images to accurately identify systems with different Einstein radii. The high-confidence lens candidate sample was visually inspected by nine of the authors, with roughly 75% of the systems classified as likely lenses. This work confirms the effectiveness of CNNs in inspecting large samples of galaxies for gravitational lenses, which will be crucial for future surveys with the Euclid satellite and the Vera Rubin Observatory.

A machine learning based approach to gravitational lens identification with the International LOFAR Telescope

S. Rezaei et al.

Summary: We propose a machine learning based approach to detect galaxy-scale gravitational lenses from interferometric data taken by the International LOFAR Telescope. By training and testing Convolutional Neural Networks on simulated data, we achieve a high true positive rate (95.3%) and a low false positive rate (0.008%). The method shows robustness when maximum image separation is >= 3 times the synthesized beam size, and when the lensed images have a total flux density >= 20 sigma.

Search of strong lens systems in the Dark Energy Survey using convolutional neural networks

K. Rojas et al.

Summary: In this study, a large sample of luminous red galaxies was screened using convolutional neural networks to identify strong lens candidates. A total of 186 new lens candidates were discovered, with 90 of them selected for further analysis, showing promising results in color deblending and automated modeling testing.

High-quality Strong Lens Candidates in the Final Kilo-Degree Survey Footprint

R. Li et al.

Summary: Using a new convolutional neural network (CNN) classifier, 97 new high-quality strong lensing candidates were discovered in the KiDS optical survey area, bringing the total to 268 systems. The complementarity of morphology and color information in multi-band composites successfully identified these candidates.
