Effect of Controlling Thiophene Rings on D-A Polymer Photocatalysts Accessed via Direct Arylation for Hydrogen Production

Tunable Donor-Acceptor Linear Conjugated Polymers Involving Cyanostyrylthiophene Linkages for Visible-Light-Driven Hydrogen Production

Summary: An atom- and step-economic direct C-H arylation polymerization strategy was developed to access cyanostyrylthiophene-based donor-acceptor conjugated polymers for photocatalytic hydrogen production. The structure-property-performance correlation study indicated that phenyl-cyanostyrylthiophene-based CP3 exhibited a superior hydrogen evolution rate compared to other conjugated polymers. These results will provide important guidelines for the rational design of high-performance D-A CPs for photocatalytic hydrogen production applications.

Structurally Complementary Star-Shaped Unfused Ring Electron Acceptors with Simultaneously Enhanced Device Parameters for Ternary Organic Solar Cells

Summary: Three novel star-shaped unfused ring electron acceptors (SSUFREAs) were designed and synthesized to incorporate into PM6:Y6 BHJ films. The study shows that SSUFREAs can improve the power conversion efficiency of ternary BHJ, and the ternary BHJ involving fluorine-free H1:PM6:Y6 achieves the highest PCE (16.57%).

Recent progress in research and design concepts for the characterization, testing, and photocatalysts for nitrogen reduction reaction

Summary: This article summarizes the methods and challenges of photocatalytic reduction of N2 to NH3, and introduces the measurement of produced NH3 and the potential NH3 pollution in photocatalytic systems, providing accurate ideas for measuring photocatalytic efficiency. Furthermore, the recent progress of charge transfer, migration, and separation in photocatalytic NRR is summarized, which guides the selection of future photocatalysts. Moreover, detailed research strategies of photocatalysts are introduced to guide the preparation and design of photocatalysts with high NRR activity.

EDOT-based conjugated polymers accessed via C-H direct arylation for efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production

Summary: By utilizing atom-economic C-H direct arylation polymerization, EDOT has been incorporated into a series of new pi-conjugated polymer-based photocatalysts, with BSO2-EDOT showing the highest hydrogen evolution rate and apparent quantum yield among linear conjugated polymers. This research demonstrates that EDOT is a promising electron-rich building block for facile integration into CP-based photocatalysts.

Summary: Photocatalytic hydrogen production based on BTDO-containing polymer photocatalysts has attracted much attention. In this study, D-A type polymer photocatalysts with a broad light absorption range were constructed by coupling two multiple-thiophene-based electron donors with BTDO. The photocatalytic activity of the polymer photocatalysts was greatly influenced by the structural change of the donor unit, and TP-BTDO-2 exhibited higher photocatalytic activity.

Dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide-containing conjugated polymer with hydrogen evolution rate up to 147 mmol g-1 h-1

Summary: Molecular engineering of donor-acceptor conjugated polymers has been successfully used to prepare efficient photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution. Two novel conjugated polymers with tailored donor-acceptor structures were designed and synthesized, showing tunable band gaps and charge separation efficiencies. One of the polymers, PDBTSO-T, exhibited outstanding hydrogen evolution rate under UV-vis illumination and even higher rate under natural sunlight irradiation.

C-H Direct Arylation: A Robust Tool to Tailor the π-Conjugation Lengths of Non-Fullerene Acceptors

It was found that the optical properties and molecular orbitals of UFRAs can be finely tuned by extending the conjugation length. Carbazole and Diketopyrrolopyrrole-Based D-A π-Conjugated Oligomers Accessed via Direct C-H Arylation for Opto-Electronic Property and Performance Study

Metal-Organic Frameworks as Photocatalysts for Solar-Driven Overall Water Splitting

The review also critically comments on the most active MOFs reported for solar-driven hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution reactions, and discusses the requirements for large-scale use of MOFs in solar-driven overall water splitting. Exfoliated conjugated porous polymer nanosheets for highly efficient photocatalytic hydrogen evolution
