Spectroscopic, computational, anti-bacterial studies of bivalent metal complexes of N-picolyl-amine dithiocarbamate

Tohama B. Abdullah et al.

Summary: This study synthesized seven picolylamine dithiocarbamate complexes of M(II) ions (CoII, NiII, CuII, PdII, ZnII, CdII, and HgII) and investigated their structural geometries and properties. The complexes showed a square planar or tetrahedral geometry formed by the coordination of the dithiocarbamate ligand through sulfur atoms. Surface structural analysis revealed nano-pattern properties, such as a nano-flower pattern in Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes. The complexes exhibited remarkable antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

New divalent metal ion complexes with 1,8-diaminonapthalene-2-thione: Synthesis, Spectroscopic, anti-bacterial and anticancer activity studies

Ahmed S. Faihan et al.

Summary: Treatment of 1,8-diaminonaphthalene-2-thione with various metal(II) salts resulted in neutral thione complexes and thionate derived complexes, characterized by different spectroscopic techniques. The compounds exhibited diverse structural geometries, with Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes showing square planar geometry, and Hg(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) thione complexes likely adopting tetrahedral structures. SEM analysis of the complexes revealed nano-structural characteristics, with complexes (3, 5) and (8) showing irregular nano-structures, nano-rod structures, and nano-sphere patterns, respectively. Moreover, the palladium complex demonstrated significant antiproliferative and antibacterial activities compared to other complexes.

Silver(I) and Gold(I) Monothiocarbonate Complexes: Synthesis, Structure, Luminescence

Welni Duminy et al.

Summary: The monothiocarbonate ligand is rare in its use in the formation of coordination compounds. In this study, silver(I) and gold(I) monothiocarbonate complexes were synthesized and analyzed using NMR and X-ray crystallography. The bonding mode of these complexes was found to be different from symmetrical S-C-S type ligands, with the binding occurring exclusively through the S-donor atom.
