Room-Temperature CO Oxidative Coupling for Oxamide Production over Interfacial Au/ZnO Catalysts

Yanwei Cao et al.

Summary: This study reports a highly selective Au/ZnO composite catalyst for one-step oxidative coupling of carbon monoxide (CO) with secondary amines, producing oxamides. The reaction is >99% selective under ambient conditions, and the catalyst activity shows a subtle change over approximately 120 hours. Microscopic and spectroscopic studies, along with machine learning, reveal that the active site is the Au-ZnO interface with a Au nanocluster attached to the ZnO support via nonstoichiometric ZnOx (x > 1) linkages. The reaction mechanism and key reaction intermediates were confirmed by density functional theory calculations and in situ diffused reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy signals. Our results open up a new avenue in heterogeneous catalysis to achieve ambient-condition CO transformation by exploiting interfacial synergistic effects.

Zn Modification of Pd/TiO2/Ti Catalyst for CO Oxidation

Payam Samadi et al.

Summary: The activity of Pd/TiO2/Ti catalyst in CO oxidation was improved by adding Zn. Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) was used to produce a porous layer of TiO2 on Ti wire. Pd and Zn were introduced through adsorption, and the activity was examined by CO oxidation. Model catalysts were prepared to investigate the reaction between Pd and Zn. Characterization techniques such as SEM-EDS, TOF-SIMS, ICP-MS, FTIR, and XRD were used to analyze the structures and compositions of the samples. Zn modification of the Pd/TiO2/Ti catalyst decreased the temperature of CO oxidation and improved the adsorption of oxygen.

Humidity tuning CO oxidation on Ti decorated V2CO2 monolayer (MXene) catalyst: A density functional calculation study

Bihai Cai et al.

Summary: In this work, the original single-atom catalyst Ti/V2CO2 is employed for CO catalytic oxidation due to its high efficiency and low cost. The effects of H2O on the performance and mechanisms of CO catalytic oxidation are explored using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. It is found that the presence of water can significantly enhance the catalytic activity of Ti/V2CO2, reducing the energy barrier of the rate-limiting step.

CO oxidation over CuOx/TiO2 catalyst: The importance of oxygen vacancies and Cu plus species

Wei Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, TiO2-supported copper catalysts (CuOx/TiO2) with different ratio of oxygen vacancies (Ov) and Cu+ were synthesized, and the existence and amount of Ov and Cu+ species were characterized. The synergetic effect between Cu+ and oxygen vacancies was investigated, and Cu+ was found to be the adsorption site for CO molecules, while abundant Ov could effectively activate molecular oxygen to oxidize CO. The most suitable ratio between Cu+ and Ov was confirmed, and CuOx/TiO2 (Cu+ rich) catalyst exhibited superior CO oxidation activity compared to CuOx/TiO2 (Ov rich) catalyst.

Promotion effect of Au single-atom support graphene for CO oxidation

Ping Yan et al.

Summary: CO oxidation is a vital catalytic reaction for environmental purification. Au single-atom catalysts have been proven to exhibit excellent performance in CO oxidation. Through DFT calculation, we revealed the active mechanism of Au single-atom in CO oxidation and found that Au single-atom catalysts supported by graphene show better CO oxidation activity.

Gold-Catalyzed 1,2-Aminoarylation of Alkenes with External Amines

Akash G. Tathe et al.

Summary: The study reported a gold-catalyzed 1,2-aminoarylation of alkenes using external amines as coupling partners. By carefully optimizing the reaction conditions, the researchers were able to achieve highly chemoselective access to the desired aminoarylation products by controlling the concentration of base. This strategy provided straightforward access to medicinally relevant derivatives like 3-aminochroman, 2-aminotetrahydronaphthalene, and 2-aminoindane.
