Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation from Aqueous Methanol Solution over n-Butylamine-Intercalated Layered Titanate H2La2Ti3O10: Activity and Stability of the Hybrid Photocatalyst

Ivan A. Rodionov et al.

Summary: The stability of platinized n-butylamine-intercalated layered titanate H2La2Ti3O10 during the process of photocatalytic hydrogen production from aqueous methanol has been thoroughly investigated. The results show that n-butylamine transforms into n-butyraldehyde within 3 hours of the reaction, while the particle morphology and specific surface area of the photocatalyst are preserved. The activity of the photocatalyst is stable and strongly depends on the medium pH.

Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production from Aqueous Solutions of Glucose and Xylose over Layered Perovskite-like Oxides HCa2Nb3O10, H2La2Ti3O10 and Their Inorganic-Organic Derivatives

Sergei A. Kurnosenko et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the photoinduced hydrogen evolution from aqueous D-glucose and D-xylose using layered perovskite-like oxides and their organically modified derivatives. The research reveals that the organically modified derivatives show significantly higher activity compared to the unmodified materials, with an apparent quantum efficiency of 8.8%. Additionally, the study demonstrates the importance of the oxides' interlayer space in the overall photocatalytic activity for hydrogen production.

Photocatalytic Activity of n-Alkylamine and n-Alkoxy Derivatives of Layered Perovskite-like Titanates H2Ln2Ti3O10 (Ln = La, Nd) in the Reaction of Hydrogen Production from an Aqueous Solution of Methanol

Sergei A. Kurnosenko et al.

Summary: Two series of hybrid inorganic-organic derivatives were investigated for photocatalytic hydrogen production, showing increased activity by up to 117 times compared to initial compounds. Additional platinization of the hybrid samples' surface led to achieving an apparent quantum efficiency of over 40% for hydrogen evolution. The photocatalytic activity of the hybrids was found to be correlated with the hydration degree of their interlayer space, suggesting that hydrogen is generated from the aqueous methanol solution rather than organic components.

Synthesis of n-Alkoxy Derivatives of Layered Perovskite-Like Niobate HCa2Nb3O10 and Study of Their Photocatalytic Activity for Hydrogen Production from an Aqueous Solution of Methanol

Vladimir V. Voytovich et al.

Summary: A series of hybrid inorganic-organic niobates containing n-alkoxy groups were studied for photocatalytic hydrogen generation, with the Pt-loaded ethoxy derivative showing the highest hydrogen evolution rate. The apparent quantum efficiency was found to be 20.6% in the 220-350 nm range, indicating that hydrogen generation does not come from the hybrid material but from the reaction solution.

Microwave-mechanochemistry-assisted synthesis of Z-scheme HSr2Nb3O10/WO3 heterojunctions for improved simulated sunlight driven photocatalytic activity

Yuying Ding et al.

Summary: In this study, a simulated sunlight driven 2D/2D HSr2Nb3O10/WO3 composite was developed with remarkable photocatalytic activities for degrading methyl orange. The preparation of HSr2Nb3O10/WO3 composites by planetary ball milling and the synthesis of ultrathin HSr2Nb3O10 nanosheets using microwave irradiation significantly reduced the preparation time. The heterojunction interaction between HSr2Nb3O10 and WO3 led to enhanced photocurrents and photocatalytic activity, with a proposed Z-Scheme photocatalytic mechanism based on theory and radical species trapping experiments.
