Recent progress in electric-field assisted combustion: a brief review

Hecong Liu et al.

Summary: Electric-field assisted combustion is an advanced technology with fast response and low power consumption compared to thermal power, but its fundamental principle and impacts on flames are complicated due to the coupling between physics, chemistry, and electromagnetics. Significant efforts have been made in the past few decades to understand and apply this technology, revealing its major impacts on flame stabilization, emission reduction, and propagation.

Simulations on pressurized oxy-coal combustion and gasification by molecular dynamics method with ReaxFF

Yu Qiu et al.

Summary: Pressurized oxy-fuel combustion has the potential for effective CO2 capture, with temperature and pressure positively affecting combustion characteristics. Higher pressure accelerates coal decomposition and enhances combustion performance, promoting the release of CO2.

Effects of CO2 and N2 dilution on the characteristics and NOx emission of H2/CH4/CO/air partially premixed flame

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, an industrial partially premixed burner with a combustion diagnostic system was used to experimentally investigate the characteristics and NOx emission of H-2/CH4/CO/air flame under different dilution gases. The results showed that increasing the proportion of CO2 in the diluent can improve the flame characteristics and reduce NOx emission.

ReaxFF study on combustion mechanism of ethanol/nitromethane

Liang Song et al.

Summary: Reactive molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the high-temperature oxidation of ethanol/nitromethane fuel, revealing that the C-N bond cleavage of nitromethane and dehydrogenation of ethanol are the dominant pathways. Active species such as NO2, NO, and OH significantly influence the oxidation mechanism of ethanol.
