Dietary Antarctic Krill Oil Enhances the Oral Bioavailability of Nobiletin but Has No Ideal Synergistic Effect on Improving Memory and Cognition Ability in Aβ1-42 Induced Rats

Jing-Ya Kong et al.

Summary: This study found that Antarctic krill oil (AKO) can enhance the oral bioavailability of Nobiletin (Nob) and facilitate its neuroprotective effect. The combination of AKO and Nob can reverse cognitive and learning defects induced by A beta(1-42) injection, but does not have an ideal synergistic effect compared to AKO or Nob alone. Further molecular experiments reveal that the neuroprotective effect may be attributed to the reduction of oxidative stress, inhibition of apoptosis and tau phosphorylation, and improvement of neurotrophic activity.

Antarctic krill oil exhibited synergistic effects with nobiletin and theanine in ameliorating memory and cognitive deficiency in SAMP8 mice: Applying the perspective of the sea-land combination to retard brain aging

Cheng-Cheng Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that the combination of sea-derived Antarctic krill oil (AKO) with land-derived nobiletin (Nob) and L-theanine (The) can effectively improve memory loss and cognitive deficiency in senescence-accelerated prone 8 mice (SAMP8).

Endothelial Cell Receptors in Tissue Lipid Uptake and Metabolism

Nada A. Abumrad et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the importance of lipid uptake and metabolism in key organs, emphasizing the role of endothelial cell receptors and uptake pathways in regulating fatty acids and cholesterol uptake. Clinical and experimental data highlight the impact of endothelial cells on lipid supply to tissues, specifically the heart and arterial wall, and how it affects organ metabolism and function. Models suggest that receptor-mediated processes play a significant role in lipid uptake in various physiological and pathological conditions.

Dietary EPA-Enriched Phospholipids Alleviate Chronic Stress and LPS-Induced Depression- and Anxiety-Like Behavior by Regulating Immunity and Neuroinflammation

Cheng-Cheng Wang et al.

Summary: Comparative investigation showed that dietary EPA-PL had superior effects in alleviating depression- and anxiety-like behavior compared to EPA-EE. Further studies revealed that EPA-PL regulated immunity, monoamine systems, and the HPA axis through multi-target interactions, including inhibition of neuroinflammation and apoptosis.
