The effects of vitrification on oocyte quality

Ching-Chien Chang et al.

Summary: Vitrification is a technique that allows for the freezing of oocytes without ice crystal formation, but its impact on oocyte quality and clinical outcomes is still unclear.

The Impact of Oocyte Vitrification on Offspring: a Systematic Review

Caroline M. Da Luz et al.

Summary: According to a systematic review, oocyte vitrification appears to be a safe method for cryopreservation and child health in the short term. However, more long-term data and randomized controlled trials are urgently needed.

Lysophosphatidic acid supports the development of vitrified ovarian follicles by decreasing the incidence of cell death: An experimental study

Neda Abedpour et al.

Summary: This study found that LPA promotes the development and survival of isolated follicles. The rates of survival and follicular development were higher in the LPA-treated groups compared to the non-LPA supplemented groups. There were no significant differences in follicular or oocyte development between the vitrified and non-vitrified groups, but the expression of certain genes was altered in the vitrified LPA supplemented group.

Role of Integrins in Sperm Activation and Fertilization

Veronika Merc et al.

Summary: Integrins are a type of cell adhesion receptor involved in interactions between cells, between cells and the extracellular matrix, and between cells and pathogens. They play crucial roles in signal transduction pathways and are able to transmit signals into and out of cells. Integrins have been found not only on somatic cells but also on germ cells, where they are known to be essential for important physiological events such as sperm-oocyte fusion.

In vitro growth and maturation of primordial follicles and immature oocytes

Evelyn E. Telfer et al.

Summary: The cryopreservation of ovarian tissue is widely used to preserve fertility in high-risk females. Besides transplantation, in vitro maturation of oocytes from ovarian tissue can also be used to restore fertility safely in cases where transplantation is contraindicated.

Oocyte vitrification for fertility preservation for both medical and nonmedical reasons

Ana Cobo et al.

Summary: The oocyte vitrification technique has been widely used in the field of fertility preservation, benefiting women at risk of losing ovarian function. Age is a critical factor affecting reproductive prognosis, and elective fertility preservation patients should make decisions before the age of 35. Diseases and surgeries such as cystectomy before oocyte retrieval can impact reproductive outcomes.
