Effect of autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant on the development of second primary malignancies in multiple myeloma patients

A. S. Rosenberg et al.

Summary: Autologous stem cell transplant (aHSCT) is associated with improved survival for multiple myeloma (MM) patients but may be linked to a higher risk of developing second primary malignancies (SPM). The study found that while aHSCT recipients had a slightly higher incidence of hematologic SPMs compared to MM patients, the overall risk of SPM development was similar between the two groups.
