A multiscale constitutive model for metal forming of dual phase titanium alloys by incorporating inherent deformation and failure mechanisms

Umair Bin Asim et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanisms of void nucleation, growth, and coalescence in α-β titanium alloys and proposes a model. The performance of the model is verified through a quantitative assessment of material parameters and demonstrated in the design and optimization of forming processes for α-β titanium alloy components.

Bayesian analysis of parametric uncertainties and model form probabilities for two different crystal plasticity models of lamellar grains in α plus β Titanium alloys

Aditya Venkatraman et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a three-step framework for evaluating the mechanical properties of metastable lamellar and Widmanstaetten morphologies of alpha+beta Titanium alloys. Using experimental data and data science methods, the uncertainty of model form and parameters is assessed, and model fusion is achieved. The effectiveness of this framework is demonstrated through a case study.

Bayesian estimation of single ply anisotropic elastic constants from spherical indentations on multi-laminate polymer-matrix fiber-reinforced composite samples

Andrew R. Castillo et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the application of a two-step Bayesian framework for estimating effective anisotropic elastic constants from spherical indentation measurements within single plies. The framework allows for reliable estimation of elastic constants by first establishing a relationship between indentation modulus and elastic stiffness parameters, and then calibrating indentation measurements from multi-laminate samples to the model established in the first step.

Summary: In this study, a two-step Bayesian framework was used to estimate the single-crystal elastic constants and initial slip resistances of different slip families in Ti alloys of various compositions. By calibrating a reduced-order model, a comprehensive dataset of elastic-plastic properties was successfully generated.
