A novel sequential-phase quad-feed circularly polarized microstrip antenna for INMARSAT and GPS applications

Shiqiang Fu et al.

Summary: A compact circularly polarized microstrip antenna with a new type of feed structure has been developed. The key feature of this antenna is the integration of the quad-feed network coplanar with the driven patch, resulting in a simple structure and good circular polarization performance. The impedance bandwidth is expanded using a parasitic patch, and the impedance matching is improved by a round hole in the center of the driven patch. In addition, a cavity is used to reduce the antenna's transverse size and improve the front-to-back ratio.

High-gain and wideband differentially fed circularly polarized planar aperture antenna

Yurong Sun et al.

Summary: A novel circularly polarized planar aperture antenna with high gain and wideband is proposed in this paper. The antenna utilizes a differential feed network and surface current analysis to achieve uniform energy transmission and circularly polarized radiation. Experimental results demonstrate the wideband and stable performance of the antenna.

A low RCS microstrip antenna based on a composite technology of slotting and loading split-rings

Zhang Jiakai et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method to reduce the wideband radar cross-section (RCS) of a microstrip antenna while maintaining its dimensions. The modified design of the antenna includes patch slotting, ground slotting, and coplanar split-ring loading. The simulations show a significant reduction in RCS within the frequency range of 1-3 GHz. Prototypes of the antennas are manufactured and tested, confirming the consistency with simulation results.

High gain, low radar cross-section, and left hand circularly polarized antenna array based on metamaterial inspired elements

Saeed Ur Rahman et al.

Summary: This research work presents the design of a wideband metamaterial-inspired circularly polarized antenna array with low radar cross-section but high gain. The basic element of the antenna array is analyzed as a dual-band electromagnetic absorber. Circular polarization is achieved by feeding the metallic resonator with a 90 degrees time phase difference, leading to a good axial ratio over a wideband range.

Ultra-wideband radar cross-section reduction for ring-shaped microstrip antenna based on characteristic mode analysis

Yakun Liu et al.

Summary: The study presents a characteristic mode analysis method for ultra-wideband RCS reduction of microstrip antenna. By suppressing important scattering modes through shape modification and disrupting current paths by placing slots at suitable locations, the proposed antenna achieves an average of 6 dB RCSR over a wide frequency band, with a peak reduction of up to 23 dB at 3.0 GHz while maintaining good radiation performance. The measured and simulated results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
