Azine- and azo-based flexible covalent organic frameworks for fluorescence sensing nitro-aromatic compounds and iodine and adsorbing iodine

Tong-Mou Geng et al.

Summary: Flexible crystalline co-valent organic frameworks (HHAZ and HAZDA) were synthesized through Schiff base polycondensation reactions. They exhibit permanent porosity, outstanding thermal and chemical stability. HHAZ and HAZDA show high fluorescence in polar solvents and have high sensitivity and selectivity for detecting explosives and iodine. In addition, they have reversible adsorption properties for volatile iodine.

Post-synthetic Modification of Covalent Organic Frameworks through in situ Polymerization of Aniline for Enhanced Capacitive Energy Storage

Tapas Kumar Dutta et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the enhancement of electrical conductivity of COFs through post-synthetic modification with conducting polymers, resulting in composite materials with high conductivity and specific capacitance. The fabricated supercapacitor showed high energy and power densities, and the composite material successfully powered a green LED for 1 min after being charged for 10 s.

Flexible and Semi-flexible Amide-Hydrazide Decorated Fluorescent Covalent Organic Frameworks as On-Off pH Responsive Proton Scavengers

Prasenjit Das et al.

Summary: Improving the robustness and crystallinity of covalently linked reticular frameworks by incorporating varied and key functionalities, such as amide or hydrazide groups, has been demonstrated. The structures show good thermal and chemical stability in acid and base environments, with intra- and interlayer H-bonding controlling rotation in eclipsed layers and emissive nature. This allows for the judicious use of stability, linkage functionality, and wettability in fluorescent pH-responsive proton scavenging.

Dual functional N,O,P containing covalent organic frameworks for adsorping iodine and fluorescence sensing to p-nitrophenol and iodine

Tong-Mou Geng et al.

Summary: Three dual-functional COFs were synthesized via Schiff base polycondensations, showing high thermal stability and excellent adsorption capacity for iodine molecules. Introduction of substituent groups improved the crystallinity of COFs, while hydrogen bonding interaction further enhanced the microscopic order degree. These COFs also exhibited high fluorescence under UV light and could detect p-nitrophenol and iodine with high sensitivity and selectivity.

Novel covalent organic polymer-supported Ag nanoparticles as a catalyst for nitroaromatics reduction

Fariba Rezaei et al.

Summary: In this experiment, a Schiff-base covalent organic polymer (COP) synthesized with different amounts of silver nanoparticles trapped by O and N atoms was used as an efficient nanocatalyst for the reduction of nitroaromatics. The catalyst structure was confirmed using various analysis techniques, and the Ag nanoparticles were found to be evenly distributed on the COP. The COP nanoparticles were proven to be an effective pattern for the elimination of industrial contaminants.
