Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Elizabethkingia Species: Report from a Reference Laboratory

Isin Y. Comba et al.

Summary: Elizabethkingia species showed high rates of susceptibility to minocycline and TMP-SMX. Further studies are needed to investigate the clinical implications of species-level differences in antimicrobial susceptibilities in this genus.

Elizabethkingia Intra-Abdominal Infection and Related Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole Resistance: A Clinical-Genomic Study

Ling-Chiao Teng et al.

Summary: Elizabethkingia spp. is an emerging nosocomial pathogen causing mostly blood stream infection and nosocomial pneumonia. Patients with underlying diseases and indwelling catheters are more susceptible to Elizabethkingia intra-abdominal infection, and successful treatment requires catheter removal. The emerging resistance to TMP/SMX in Elizabethkingia anophelis may be related to accumulated mutations in folP.
