First uncertainty evaluation of the cesium fountain primary frequency standard NMIJ-F2

Akifumi Takamizawa et al.

Summary: In this study, we report the first uncertainty evaluation of NMIJ-F2, the second atomic fountain primary frequency standard at the National Metrology Institute of Japan. By increasing the number of detected atoms and employing an ultra-stable cryogenic sapphire oscillator, the frequency stability has been significantly improved.

Search for Ultralight Dark Matter from Long-Term Frequency Comparisons of Optical and Microwave Atomic Clocks

Takumi Kobayashi et al.

Summary: This study searches for ultralight scalar dark matter candidates and verifies the oscillation phenomenon of the fine structure constant, electron and quark masses, and quantum chromodynamics energy scale. New limits on the couplings of the scalar dark matter to electrons and gluons are also established.

High-accuracy determination of Paul-trap stability parameters for electric-quadrupole-shift prediction

T. Lindvall et al.

Summary: This article presents a method to solve the stability parameters and characterizes an endcap trap using this method. It also introduces a method to determine the direction of the radial trap axes and discusses the temperature dependence of the rf voltage. The application of this method in optical ion clocks predicts and minimizes the electric quadrupole shift.

Absolute frequency of 87Sr at 1.8 x 10-16 uncertainty by reference to remote primary frequency standards

Nils Nemitz et al.

Summary: The optical lattice clock NICT-Sr1 calibrates the international timescale TAI and determines the absolute frequency of the Sr-87 clock transition to be 429 228 004 229 873.082 Hz, with a high level of precision approaching the systematic limits of the best realization of the SI second. This result is consistent with other recent measurements and is further supported by loop closure over the absolute frequencies of Sr-87, Yb-171, and direct optical measurements of their ratio.

Intercontinental comparison of optical atomic clocks through very long baseline interferometry

Marco Pizzocaro et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) can be used to compare intercontinental optical clocks by observing extragalactic radio sources, overcoming limitations of satellite transfer techniques. The new system's performance surpasses satellite techniques, paving the way for future stable international clock comparisons.

Improved Limits for Violations of Local Position Invariance from Atomic Clock Comparisons

R. Lange et al.

Summary: A study compared two optical clocks based on Yb-171+ and measured the frequency ratio of their electric quadrupole and electric octupole transitions, finding improved accuracy. The study also analyzed potential violations of physical laws and improved limits on the temporal variations of fundamental constants and the proton-to-electron mass ratio.

Absolute frequency measurement of the 171Yb optical lattice clock at KRISS using TAI for over a year

Huidong Kim et al.

Summary: This study reports a 14-month measurement of the absolute frequency of the S-1(0)-P-3(0) transition in the Yb-171 optical lattice clock at KRISS, with high accuracy and good agreement with other reports. The determined absolute frequency is expected to contribute to the future update of the CIPM recommendation frequency of the secondary frequency standards.
