Profiles for Success: Examining the Relationship between Student Profiles and Clerkship Performance Using Latent Profile Analysis

Christy K. Boscardin et al.

Summary: Phenomenon learning is a complex process influenced by learners' orientation, approaches, and perception of the learning environment. The study found that students with mastery orientation and positive perceptions of the environment performed better academically, while those with performance orientation and negative perceptions of the environment struggled academically. Contrary to previous findings, the relationship between mastery orientation and learning approaches is mediated by perceptions of the learning environment.

Building Longitudinal Relationships Into a Traditional Block Clerkship Model: A Mixed-Methods Study

Alev J. Atalay et al.

Summary: The study describes the implementation of a curriculum designed to integrate continuity and longitudinal patient relationships into a traditional block clerkship, and evaluates the effectiveness of the program through mixed-methods analysis. Results show that students who participated in the program were able to follow multiple patients longitudinally, deepening their understanding of the patient experience, healthcare system, and disease progression. The findings suggest that prioritizing depth of experience with fewer patients may reduce barriers and promote patient-centered care within the traditional clerkship model.

A meta-analysis of induced achievement goals: the moderating effects of goal standard and goal framing

Gera Noordzij et al.

Summary: This paper presents a meta-analysis of experimentally induced achievement goals and their effects on motivation and performance. The results showed that induced mastery-approach goals enhanced performance but not motivation. Additionally, the study found that the goal standard and framing used in the induction process influenced the effectiveness of achievement goals.
