Improved Particle Filter for Non-Gaussian Forecasting-aided State Estimation

Lyuzerui Yuan et al.

Summary: In this paper, an improved particle filter is proposed to address the non-Gaussian forecasting-aided state estimation problem. The proposed method utilizes an asymmetric generalized Gaussian distribution (AGGD) as a unified representation of various unimodal distributions. Numerical simulations on a modified balanced IEEE 123-bus test system demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method in terms of accuracy and robustness over other popular state estimation methods, regardless of the type of noise.

Decentralized data-driven estimation of generator rotor speed and inertia constant based on adaptive unscented Kalman filter

Bendong Tan et al.

Summary: This paper presents an online decentralized and data-driven method for estimating synchronous generator rotor speed and inertia. The relationship between the generator terminal voltage/current phasors and its internal rotor speed is derived using the Thevenin equivalent, and the parameters are obtained via a recursive estimator. The equivalent swing equation is then reformulated into a Kalman filter form, allowing for the estimation of inertia using a priori-estimated internal rotor speed and measured power injections.

Optimal placement of distribution-level synchrophasor sensors for distribution system

Tengpeng Chen et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new method for the placement of important synchrophasor sensors, called distribution-level phasor measurement units (DPMUs), in order to accurately estimate the state of distribution systems. By considering the limited number of DPMUs, zero injection buses, limited DPMU channels, and supervisory control and data acquisition measurements, a new objective function is developed to minimize state estimation errors. Simulations on IEEE 34-bus and 123-bus distribution systems demonstrate the performance of the proposed method.
