Quantitative study of the defects of ferromagnetic materials using the magnetic charge model and particle swarm optimization algorithm

Sanqing Su et al.

Summary: In recent years, metal magnetic memory (MMM) has been used to investigate local defects in components. However, difficulties have been encountered in quantifying the theoretical parameters of the magnetic charge model and characterizing magnetic feature parameters. This study introduced the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to accurately quantify the parameters of the magnetic charge model and proposed a theoretical formula to comprehensively describe defects using multi-feature parameters.

Crack propagation characterization and statistical evaluation of fatigue life for locally corroded bridge steel based on metal magnetic memory method

Sanqing Su et al.

Summary: Corrosion greatly affects the fatigue performance of bridge steel members. Metal magnetic memory (MMM) is considered as a potential approach for examining fatigue damage of ferromagnetic material. By conducting tension-tension high cycle fatigue (HCF) tests on bridge steel specimens with local corrosion, the study innovatively investigated the normal component H-SF(y) of SMFL field on the surface of specimens using MMM method. The experimental results showed that the behavior of mutational crest and trough on the curves of H-SF(y) signal and its gradient K accurately indicated the extent of corroded region and the position of fatigue crack.

A Novel Sigmoid-Function-Based Adaptive Weighted Particle Swarm Optimizer

Weibo Liu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a novel PSO algorithm is proposed with a sigmoid-function-based weighting strategy to adaptively adjust acceleration coefficients, enhancing the convergence rate by considering distances to global and personal best positions. The algorithm, inspired by neural networks, outperforms some popular PSO algorithms in improving the convergence rate according to comprehensive evaluation on benchmark functions.
