Intramolecular heterostructured carbon nitride with heptazine-triazine for enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Xiaowen Ruan et al.

Summary: The intramolecular heterostructure graphitic carbon nitride with heptazine-triazine (CN-HT) prepared by one-step thermal polymerization method exhibits superior photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. This is attributed to efficient separation and transfer of photogenerated carriers as well as expanded visible light absorption.

Steering electron transfer using interface engineering on front-illuminated robust BiVO4 photoanodes

Rui-Ting Gao et al.

Summary: Research shows that front solar illumination is crucial for designing tandem structures in photoelectrochemical water splitting using BiVO4. To reduce interfacial recombination, a new strategy involves applying a PdO layer functionalized SnO2 interface as an electron transport layer. Additionally, a trace amount of Pd was doped into the bulk BiVO4 to modify the electronic structure.

There is plenty of room at the top: generation of hot charge carriers and their applications in perovskite and other semiconductor-based optoelectronic devices

Irfan Ahmed et al.

Summary: The paper introduces the concept of hot charge carriers in photoactive materials and their potential applications in optoelectronics. Strategies to delay the cooling of hot charge carriers and accelerate their extraction are discussed, along with various materials that exhibit slow cooling behavior and plasmon-induced hot charge carrier generation. By designing plasmonic nanostructures, improved light absorption and controlled generation of hot charge carriers can be achieved.

Construction of a CsPbBr3 modified porous g-C3N4 photocatalyst for effective reduction of CO2 and mechanism exploration

Yunqi Wang et al.

Summary: The study focuses on in-depth research of the active sites and charge transport behavior for the photocatalytic reduction of CO2. The novel photocatalyst P-CN/CsPbBr3 shows superior CO2 reduction efficiency compared to primary B-CN and CsPbBr3, with a significantly higher yield of CO. This improvement is mainly attributed to the heterostructure and porous structure of P-CN, which promote carrier separation and enhance CO2 absorption capacity.
