Silanized MXene/Carbon Nanotube Composites as a Shielding Layer of Polyurethane Coatings for Anticorrosion

Yuzhou Wang et al.

Summary: The silanized Ti3C2Tx/carbon nanotube (CNT) nanocomposite has been developed as a shielding layer for waterborne polyurethane (WPU) coatings to enhance their anticorrosion properties. The functionalized surfaces of Ti3C2Tx and S-CNTs form an effective shielding layer in the coating, effectively preventing the penetration of corrosive electrolytes, demonstrating improved performance after 120 days of immersion.

MXenes as Emerging 2D Materials for Anticorrosive Application: Challenges and Opportunities

Chandrabhan Verma et al.

Summary: MXenes are a class of relatively new 2D inorganic materials with potential biological and industrial applications. They are used as nanofillers in polymer-based coatings, particularly in epoxy resins and polyurethane-based coatings. Previous studies have shown that MXenes and their composites not only affect the performance of polymer coatings, but also enhance their durability.

GO-Ti3C2 two-dimensional heterojunction nanomaterial for anticorrosion enhancement of epoxy zinc-rich coatings

Lu Shen et al.

Summary: MXenes, a unique family of 2D transition metal carbides/nitrides, have been proven useful for enhancing cathodic protection and corrosion resistance in coatings. The incorporation of MXene onto graphene oxide nanosheets in coatings can effectively improve the performance by enhancing zinc utilization and providing barrier protection. The designed heterojunction structure shows optimal corrosion resistance among the four types of coatings.

Fire/heat-resistant, anti-corrosion and folding Ti2C3Tx MXene/single-walled carbon nanotube films for extreme-environmental EMI shielding and solar-thermal conversion applications

Bing Zhou et al.

Summary: By combining high aspect ratio single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and two-dimensional (2D) MXene Ti2C3T(x), a high-performance lamellar film was prepared in this study, exhibiting excellent EMI shielding effectiveness and thermal stability in extreme environments. The film also shows high tensile strength and toughness, making it a promising material for practical applications in various extreme conditions.
