High temperature performance of geopolymers as a function of the Si/Al ratio and alkaline media

Daiane dos Santos da Silva Godinho et al.

Summary: Geopolymeric cements exhibit thermal stability and have the potential for use in fire-resistant structures. The Si/Al ratio and alkaline activator were found to affect the properties of geopolymeric cements.

Development of fly ash-based geopolymers using powder sodium silicate activator

Y. Luna-Galiano et al.

Summary: This paper describes the manufacturing of geopolymers using a ready-mix procedure with powder sodium silicate as an activator. The characteristics of these geopolymers are compared with those made using aqueous sodium silicate. The results show that the geopolymer obtained using the powder activator has slightly lower mechanical properties but better durability.

Effect of nano SiO2 on mechanical properties of micro-steel fibers reinforced geopolymer composites

Thamer Alomayri et al.

Summary: The addition of nano silica significantly enhances the mechanical properties and microstructure of micro steel fiber reinforced fly ash geopolymer composites, producing a denser matrix and refining the interfacial zones. The optimal amount of nano silica recommended for optimal behavior in these composites is 2%.
